It would seem that Microsoft may be killing off Windows Media Center with Windows 10, at least according to Ed Bott who confirmed this with a Microsoft executive during a private meeting at the Build developers’ conference in San Francisco. Of course Windows Media Center will still function on your Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 PC as long as you don’t upgrade to Windows 10. The following message will appear if you try to upgrade a PC with Windows Media Center to Windows 10:
The death of Windows Media Center isn’t shocking at all to most as it hasn’t exactly been a secret that Microsoft hasn’t done anything in years with it, still it makes me sad to see it die; Windows Media Center was where it all started for meĀ and likewise for others.
Good-bye old friend…RIP.
