Plex has added free SSL certificates with Plex Media Server version 0.9.12.3 and it’s not just for Plex Pass(paid) users. That’s right Plex has teamed up with DigiCert to offer all Plex users secure communication on their media servers. For the less tech-savy folks this provides encrypted communication between your devices and Plex Media Server; it’s what protects you when signing into your bank account for example, making online purchases or keeping big brother from taking a peek.
Granted SSL isn’t exciting news for most of us, but trust me you’ll be glad it’s there and I’m sure it wasn’t an easy task for the Plex team either.
